“Still and motion image” / Workshop

MULTIVERSE. Directions for the world prevede anche una serie di appuntamenti e di incontri con l’artista, tra cui il Workshop “Still and motion image”, che si terrà dal 2 al 7 marzo 2009 presso A.L.I. > Arts Learning Institute. Il workshop - in collaborazione con l’ U.C.L.A. di Los Angeles - verte sulla fotografia e sulla manipolazione digitale dell’immagine. In quanto laboratorio si propone come un luogo di vero scambio e un veicolo per la sperimentazione degli approcci educativi più aperti e innovativi nel campo dei new media.

Software focus: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP and ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS

OBJECTIVE
Introduce students to fundamentals of pre- and post-production techniques in creating a multi-media moving image. Students will not only learn software skills, but also production, ideation and conceptual framework relevant to their work.

ASSIGNMENT
Create a 2 minute animation comprised of video, photography, 3D elements, and audio.

SESSION 1
Introduction: Introduce students to instructor’s work, and artistic philosophies. Introduce students to the scope of the class including the assignment and software.
Tutorial: Image Production - Story Boarding, Planning, execution, and capturing of video and photography.
Work: Create and review story boards.

SESSION 2
Screening: Review and discuss seminal works of video and animation.
Tutorial: Adobe Photoshop - Scale/Size, format, color correction, effects
Tutorial: Adobe After Effects - Composition Settings, layers, Working with video, working with photography, working with Graphics.
Work: Begin Production of projects.

SESSION 3
Tutorial: Adobe After Effects - Animation, 3D, Keyframes, color correction, effects
Work: Work in progress review: group discussion about projects and progress

SESSION 4
Screening: Review and discuss seminal works of video and animation
Tutorial: Adobe After Effects - Audio, Exporting/Video Codecs for exhibition, web and mobile.
Work: Individual work-in-progress reviews.

SESSION 5
Final Review: Discuss and Critique student works.
